Taking a trip? Follow these easy steps and you’ll be on your way in no time.
Video Instruction
Requires Adobe Flash – this video is 22 minutes long and may take a little time for the video to play, depending on your internet connection speed.
Step 1: Using the appropriate hex wrench, remove or loosen the seat post on your bike.
Step 2: Run the provided strap thru the seat tube and the front wheel – step on the end to tighten the strap and reduce the tension on the cable. Now pull the grenade pin that is connecting the cable and the bottom bracket.
Step 3: Undo front brake and remove the front wheel.
Step 4: There are two types of bolts that are used to lock the seat collar into position on the boom tube : quick release and race bolt (Allen). If you have a QR - open, unscrew the bottom nut and remove the bolt. If you have a race bolt – use a 6mm hex wrench on the top and a 15 mm socket on the bottom to loosen the bolt and remove.
IMPORTANT: When re-assembling your bike, make sure you tighten the quick release before you install the seat post.
Step 5: Fold the rear triangle toward the cables. If your bike has V-brakes, you may need to create space for pivoting by sliding the collar up the seat tube before folding.
Please note:
If you are planning on taking your Slingshot on a trip and are using the Pica travel case, you must remove the handlebars handlebars and rear wheel.
(additional information on these steps can be found in the “how to assemble” section.)
